Course Content

THEORETICAL PART

I. Using databases in business. Data storage. Repositories and individual data collections.

II. Data mining. Data Mining Techniques (Categorization, Estimation, Correlation Rules)

III. Using databases to make business decisions. Business Information Systems (Transaction Processing Systems, Management Information Systems, Decision Support Systems), Knowledge Systems).

IV. Enterprise resource planning systems. Business intelligence systems.  

LABORATORY PART

I. Databases II. Business intelligence system (Power BI)

Learning results

The purpose of the course is to introduce students to new forms of information systems that focus on improving the business decision-making process.

Upon completion of the course (Theoretical and Laboratory part), students are expected to be able to:

  • recognize the need for new business information systems
  • investigate the factors influencing business decision-making
  • distinguish the different types of business information systems
  • understand the functions of decision support systems - operate a business intelligence system (POWER BI)
