I. Kefalogianni is a member of the Laboratory Teaching Staff at the Laboratory of General and Agricultural Microbiology of the Agricultural University of Athens, in the academic field of "Agricultural Microbiology – Soil Microbiology" She graduated with distinction from the Agricultural University of Athens (Department of Crop Science) and holds a PhD from the Department of Biotechnology of the Agricultural University of Athens. She has published articles in international scientific journals and has participated in projects funded by national and European resources as a member of research teams. She has extensive teaching experience and has contributed to the supervision of numerous undergraduate theses.
Her primary research interests and activities include the study of soil microorganisms, biological nitrogen fixation, plant-microbe interactions with an emphasis on plant growth-promoting and phytopathogen-antagonistic microorganisms, microbial biostimulants, microbial fermentations, waste management, and the biotransformation of agro-industrial by-products (composting), as well as microalgae cultivation and metabolite production.
