Learning results

The purpose of the course is to introduce postgraduate students to the basic principles of ampelography and to the study of the main wine grape varieties and rootstocks of the Greek vineyard.

The course curriculum aims to introduce postgraduate students to the methodology used in the identification of grape varieties and rootstocks, their properties and their cultivation behavior, for the proper management of a modern productive vineyard, in combination with the basic principles of precision viticulture.

Upon successful completion of the course, postgraduate students will have:

  • Understood the methodology of Ampelographic Description.
  • Understood the properties and selection criteria of the rootstocks, the properties, the quality characters and the cultivation behavior of the cultivated grape varieties
  • Understood the specific effects of high and low temperatures on the physiology and production of the grapevine, in combination with the basic principles of precision viticulture
