Elisavet K. Chatzivassiliou

Brief Curriculum Vitae

Professor of Plant Pathology-Virology. She is the Vice-Chair of the Plant Health Panel of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), where she is also a member (expert) of the high-risk plants working group.

She graduated from the Department of Agriculture (Specialization in Plant Production), Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh) and did her master studies in Plant Protection, at the Department of Agriculture, of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She holds a PhD in Plant Pathology-Virology from the Department of Agriculture, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece.

Research interests

  • Diagnosis and epidemiology of plant virus diseases
  • Identification of plant viruses, with emphasis on viruses of vegetables and ornamentals
  • Plant-virus-vector interactions
  • Pest risk analysis of plant pathogens
  • Evaluation of methods for the control of plant viruses and their vector insects
