Course Content

Labor supply and demand, Market equilibrium, compensating wage differentials, human capital, wage structure, labor market discrimination, pay incentives, unemployment, labor unions

Learning results

The learning outcomes of the course are:

Labor economics examines issues of labor relations between workers and firms and aims to answer questions about the effects of immigration on wages and employment opportunities, the effects of women's participation in the labor market, the establishment of the minimum wage, the effects of the structure of unemployment benefits, interpretation of wage inequalities, the effects of health and safety in the workplace and government subsidies to human capital.
