Introduction, types of energy data, energy demand and supply, Economic analysis of energy investments, Renewable and Non-Renewable energy sources, Energy pricing and taxation, Environmental protection and Energy, Climate change and energy, energy sector challenges, energy security, energy access, management energy demand, oil, gas, coal markets, electricity market, energy sector reform, electricity market regulation issues.

The learning outcomes of the course are:

Energy economics is a branch of applied economics that deals with the economics of energy demand and production, exploration of energy sources, its transport, storage, transformation and production of various energy derivatives.

This course explains to the student the logic of energy consumption decisions by various users as well as energy transactions through alternative forms of market and governance.

Students will also be taught the economic dimension of the social and environmental impacts of energy use and finally the planning, policy and performance of industries, participants and governance mechanisms.
