Dr. A. Zerva is an Assistant Professor at the Biotechnology Department of AUA, specializing in Enzymology and Enzyme Biotechnology. Her research interests focus on the discovery and characterization of novel enzymes from microbial sources and their biotechnological utilization in biocatalytic applications, with an emphasis on enzymes used in environmental applications (design of lignocellulosic biomass biorefineries, pollutant degradation, biocatalytic production of food additives, pharmaceuticals cosmetics, etc.). Her teaching duties include the following courses in the undergraduate curriculum of the Biotechnology Department: Enzyme Biotechnology, Molecular Enzymology, Analytical Biotechnology, Circular Biotechnology and Enzyme Biorefineries.
