Introduction
The School of Animal Biosciences was founded in 2019, and consists of two Departments, namely, the Department of Animal Science and the Department of Hydrobiology and Aquaculture; the latter, is under establishment and expected to commence its academic activities in the near future. The School of Animal Biosciences is one of the six (6) Schools of the Agricultural University of Athens, in Greece. Throughout its long educational course, which began more than 100 years ago, the Agricultural University of Athens, has adopted a clear orientation to all disciplines of Plant and Animal Production, providing academic training and conducting research, with the ultimate mission to extend the state-of-the-art and to contribute, dynamically, to the relevant scientific developments.
Aim
The aim of the School of Animal Biosciences is to provide specialisation and to give prominence to all the scientific fields, associated with Animal Production, Hydrobiology and Aquaculture.
Vision
The vision of the School of Animal Biosciences includes the incorporation, as well as the optimum use of the existing strong foundation of equipment, infrastructure and know-how, towards the creation of a vigorous, mutually beneficial interaction with society, with regards to the entire “spectrum and horizon”, within the scientific scope of Animal Production, Health and Welfare.
