Strategic Planning

Strategic Planning of the School of Animal Biosciences

The educational activities of the School of Animal Biosciences are to expand significantly, in the near future, by the initiation of the Department of Hydrobiology and Aquaculture. The duration of the course of studies of this Department is five (5) years, just as that of the Department of Animal Science. The Undergraduate Curriculum, consists of common courses on background and general knowledge, delivered during, mainly, the first two (2) years of studies, followed by courses, on the scientific field.

In other words, the mid-term strategic planning of the School of Animal Biosciences, foresees the foundation of a third Department, dedicated to Animal Health. Under this framework, the drawing and all the preparatory actions for such an establishment, are taking place. Actually, the duration of the course of studies of this Department under formation, will come to six (6) years, giving emphasis to the use of modern technologies in education and training, and to specialisation, too. The syllabus of the new Department, will equally, consist of courses on background and general knowledge, delivered during the first two (2) years of studies, followed by four (4) years of the courses on the scientific field. Needless to highlight that, as in the other two Departments of the School, the last year of studies comprises the preparation, elaboration and completion of an undergraduate study thesis, and is, also, to be focused on practical training and specificity.

All in all, the strategic planning of the School of Animal Biosciences, relies upon the idea that an academic institution ought to and should be, above all, a pillar of development, as regards the scientific field, it falls within and the society, in which it is activated. Scepticism and diffidence, both, absolutely justified, in many cases, unfortunately lead to introversion and stagnation. However, in the end, those mostly affected are the young people seeking for opportunities and, certainly, the society that relies on them for sustainability and progress.
