According to the Law 4957/2022 (Greek Government Gazette No 141/A'/21-7-2022), the Senate consists of:

A) The Rector of the University

B) The Deans of Schools

C) The Heads of the Departments

D) One (1) representative per teaching category, namely resulting from the Special Teaching Staff, the Special Laboratory Teaching Staff and the Special Technical Laboratory Teaching Staff of the Higher Education Institution, as long as corresponding categories of personnel serve in it, being nominated in accordance with the article 41 of the aforementioned Law.

E) The student representatives at a rate of 10% out of the total number of the members involved in the Senate of cases (a) to (c).

If, based on the above percentage, a decimal number is obtained, which is greater than half (0.5), it is rounded to the nearest whole unit, with the obligation of representation from each cycle of studies, at least by one (1) student. Student representatives are nominated by the Student Council, in agreement with the article 43 of the Law 4957/2022.

The Vice-Rectors may attend the meetings of the Senate without the right to vote in line with the article 16, (2) of the Law 4957/2022.

The Senate shall meet legally, even if the persons entrusted on the part of the students, as well as the teaching members of the above categories of AUA, have not been appointed by voting.

The Senate has all the responsibilities and tasks as prescribed in the article 16, (4) of the Law 4957/21-07-2022, in addition to the individual provisions of the previously mentioned Law as in force, inasmuch the provisions laid down in the Organisation and the Internal Regulation of the Institution.
