Course Content

The course will include the following sections:

- Introductory Remarks and economic thought in ancient Greece

- The beginnings of economic thought: Mercantilists and physiocrats

- The Wealth of Nations – Adam Smith

- Principles of political economy –David Ricardo

- Marx and Marxism

- The structure of classical theory

- The structure of neoclassical theory

- Keynes and Keynesianism

- Monetization

- New classical synthesis and new classical economists

- The approach of real business cycles

- New Keynesian paradigms - Post Keynesian paradigms

Learning results

The purpose of this specific course is to give students an idea of the scope of economic thought through a historical presentation of the most important economists and the theories they developed. The course emphasizes the historical development of theories and their interconnection with social phenomena. In this way, the development of economic thinking and its interconnection with the real world is understood

Upon successful completion of the course, the student:

He will get to know the currents of economic thought prevailing from time to time

will be able to connect the specific currents with the historical social, economic and political situations

will be able to distinguish the evolution of economic thought and economic theories

will understand and analyze the evolution of the economic
