Dr. Oleksandr Perekhozhuk graduated from the economic department of the National Agricultural University of Ukraine in Kyiv. He studied agricultural economics at the Master Program in Sustainable Agriculture in Transition Countries at the Agricultural Department of the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (MLU), Germany. In 2007 he obtained his PhD from the MLU. The title of his PhD dissertation thesis was ‘Market structure and pricing on the Ukrainian market for raw milk’. Since 2007 he has worked as a post-doctoral researcher in the Department of Agricultural Markets at IAMO. His main research is focused on the field of industrial organization, international trade, applied econometrics, microeconomic analysis, and new empirical industrial organization (NEIO).

He has led and coordinated numerous international projects in various positions such as Project Leader, Project Coordinator, and Working Group Leader. From 2021 to 2023 he coordinated the project GUCE-SAFE ‘Preparation for the establishment and development of a German-Ukrainian Core of Excellence’ funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), Germany. From 2017 to 2021 he led the joint research project UaFoodTrade ‘Pilot project for the sustainable internationalization of Ukrainian research structures in the context of the globalization of the Ukrainian food sector‘ funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), Germany. From 2012 to 2017 he coordinated the joint research project MATRACC ‘The Global Food Crisis – Impact on Wheat Markets and Trade in the Caucasus and Central Asia and the Role of Kazakhstan, Russia and Ukraine’ funded by the Volkswagen Foundation, Germany.

Dr. Oleksandr Perekhozhuk has reviewed research papers and manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals, including Agribusiness: An International Journal, Agricultural and Food Economics, Applied Economics, and the Baltic Journal of Economics, published by Taylor & Francis, among others. He has also published in peer-reviewed journals such as the Canadian Journal of Agricultural Economics, Eastern European Economics, Journal of Agricultural & Food Industrial Organization, Journal of Agricultural Economics, Journal of Economic Surveys, Journal of Industry, Competition and Trade, and others.
Dr. Oleksandr Perekhozhuk is a member of various international associations and research organizations, including being an associate member at the Center for Food and Land Use Research, Kyiv School of Economics (KSE) in Kyiv, Ukraine, a Member of the Expert Board of the Ukrainian Agribusiness Club (UCAB) in Kyiv, Ukraine, and a member of the European Association of Agricultural Economists (EAAE), the Canadian Economics Society (CES), and the German Society of Economics and Social Sciences in Agriculture (GEWISOLA) in Braunschweig, Germany, as well as the International Association of Agricultural Economists (IAAE) among others.
