Graduate of the Department of Agricultural Biotechnology at the Agricultural University of Athens (AUA). Research interests focus on (i) plant cell differentiation and development, (ii) root system architecture and (iii) plant responses to abiotic and biotic cues. He has published >35 articles in high-impact international journals, with >1,680 citations. He is a co-author of the textbook "Molecular Plant Developmental Biology" taught in Biological Sciences Departments. His research work has been highlighted in journals such as New Phytologist, Plant Physiology and Faculty of 1000. He has participated in >60 international conferences. He serves as the National Representative of the Multinational Arabidopsis Steering Committee (MASC) and has experience managing research projects funded by ELIDEK, ΕΡΕΥΝΩ-ΚΑΙΝΟΤΟΜΩ, Fondation Santé, DAAD, FP7 etc. He has reviewed numerous articles for international scientific journals and is a member of editorial boards for Plant Physiology and Biochemistry, Frontiers in Plant Scienceand Agronomy. He has participated in the evaluation of scholarships and research projects, including those from IKY, GSRT (Cooperation; PAVET; ΕΡΕΥΝΩ-ΚΑΙΝΟΤΟΜΩ), BBSRC, the Israel Science Foundation and the Polish National Science Center. He is involved in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the Department of Biotechnology, as well as postgraduate programs at AUA and the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
