Kostas Bethanis is an Associate Professor at the Physics Lab of the Biotechnology Department of AUA. The field of his expertise is “Physics with emphasis in theoretical developments and applications of crystallography". He teaches the "Physics" course in the Departments of Crop Science, Animal Science, and Food Science-Human Nutrition, as well as the "Physics of Life" course in the Department of Biotechnology at AUA. His research interests include (i) theoretical study and method development for crystal structure determination, (ii) small molecules and supramolecular crystallography and Molecular Dynamics simulations (iii) protein crystallography (iv) Improvement of the physicochemical properties and bioavailability of bioactive substances through their molecular encapsulation in natural and modified cyclodextrins.
