Dr. Spyridon Kintzios is a Professor at the Department of Biotechnology with the subject "Cell Technology / Biosensors". He is the Director of the Laboratory of Cell Technology (2015-) and Rector of the Agricultural University of Athens (2018-). He has more than 30 years of research and teaching experience in the field of Biotechnology and in particular in the field of Cell Biology, Cell Technology and Biosensors. He is the author/co-author of more than 140 original research publications in international journals (h=27, member of the 2% Stanford University list of the most recognized researchers internationally), 20+ chapters in international books and more than 80 presentations in international and national conferences. He has invented the Bioelectric Recognition Assay (BERA) and Molecular Identification through Membrane Engineering (MIME) technology. Both methods were recognized as the best cellular biosensor technologies during the Knowledge Foundation Conference (June 2006, Washington DC). He holds several national and two international patents. He has coordinated and participated in more than 40 international and nationally funded projects. He is a founding member and board member of the Hellenic Biotechnology Cluster (HBio), Vice President of the Hellenic Society for Nanotechnological Applications in Medicine and Health Sciences (ELENEPY), member of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Agricultural Academy (EGA), member of the National Council for Research, Technology and Innovation (NSETEK) and member of many public and sectoral committees in Greece and abroad.
