Dr Marianna Hadjidimitriou is a Professor in the Genetics Laboratory of the Department of Biotechnology with the subject "Genetic characterization and Biology of perennial plants". She received her B.Sc. degree from the Agricultural University of Athens, Department of Plant Production and her Ph.D. degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA - Horticulture Department. She carried out postdoctoral research at the John Innes Centre - UK. During the PhD thesis she held a Research Assistant position. She has significant educational experience, at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Her scientific work includes 66 publications in peer-reviewed international journals, conference proceedings and book chapters. She has participated in 20 International and 15 National conferences. She has supervised 8 postgraduate studies, 2 PhD theses and a large number of bachelor theses. She was scientific leader in 5 research projects and collaborator in 5 research projects. She is a reviewer in 20 scientific journals. She collaborates with foreign universities and is a member of various scientific organizations. Her research interests include the study of genetic variation, genetic relationships, and the identification of species, varieties and genotypes of native and cultivated perennial plants. Also include the study of Phenolic compounds in plants and their role in human health and the study of the effect of environment on photosynthetic capacity and growth of perennial plants.
