The Agricultural University of Athens participated in the race "KARPENISSI TRAIL RUN 2022".

The team of runners of the Agricultural University of Athens - AUA RUNNING participated from 7 to 9 October 2022, for the first time in mountain running races, in the "KARPENISSI TRAIL RUN 2022" with the following routes:

GAVROS TRAIL 6km, positive altitude 450m.
LAKOMATA TRAIL 13km, positive altitude 980m.
KALIAKOUDA TRAIL 26km, positive altitude 1860m.
The races started and finished at Megalo Horio in the prefecture of Evritania. The AUA RUNNING team participated in the event with 17 runners consisting of students, researchers and professors from the Athens-based departments of the Agricultural University of Athens and from the Department of Forestry & Natural Environment Management of the Agricultural University of Athens, based in Karpenisi, constituting the most numerous team participation of this year's event.

The founding members of the AUA RUNNING team, Mr. Dionysios Kalyvas, Professor, Mr. Konstantinos Soulis, Assistant Professor, from the Department of Natural Resources Exploitation & Agricultural Engineering, the President of the Department of Forestry & Natural Environment Management Mr. Spyridon Kaloudis, Associate Professor and Mrs. Stavroula Galanopoulou, Assistant Professor from the same Department, participated with enthusiasm in the races held on Mount Kaliakouda, which is one of the three emblematic mountains of Evritania along with Velouchi and Chelidona, with the highest peak reaching 2100m.

The Athens Agricultural University of Athens AUA RUNNING runners team will continue its efforts to achieve its goals, as through its participation in sports and other related activities, it also includes the strengthening of relations between all members of the wider university community of the GUA, which now extends to four cities in Greece.

It is worth noting that the President of the Department of Forestry & Natural Environment Management based in Karpenisi, Mr. Spyridon Kaloudis, arranged for the hospitality of the team members who travelled from Athens to the Department's facilities in Karpenisi, and the students and staff of the Department welcomed the other members of the team offering full support for a pleasant stay.

Mrs. Polyxeni Tsaliagou, founding member of the AUA RUNNING team and Professor of Physical Education, had undertaken the coordination and organization of the participation in the "KARPENISSI TRAIL RUN 2022" races. The participants made the next mass appointment to the authentic Athens Marathon, where the AUA RUNNING team will participate with 125 runners in all categories.
