Dr Eleni G. Papazoglou is a member of the Laboratory Teaching Staff at the Laboratory of Systematic Botany, Department of Crop Science, Agricultural University of Athens, with Applied Botany as her academic field. Her main research interests include phytoremediation and phytomanagement of contaminated and degraded soils; cultivation of non-food industrial crops on contaminated, saline, and other marginal lands; plant responses to environmental stresses; biostimulants and beneficial microorganisms in crop production; biodiversity and adaptation of spontaneous vegetation in degraded environments; evaluation of underutilized plant species and climate-resilient crops; and the use of lower-quality water resources for non-food crop production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As of September 2026, she has participated in 21 national and international research projects, several of them as Principal Investigator, Project Coordinator, or leader of research activities. She has authored or co-authored 37 articles in international peer-reviewed scientific journals, 119 papers published in the proceedings of international scientific conferences and 5 in national conferences, one book in Greek, and four chapters in international scientific volumes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She was a postdoctoral researcher at the Centre for Environmental Sciences, Hasselt University, Belgium (2017\u20132019), under the supervision of Professor Jaco Vangronsveld, and a research associate at the Environmental Biotechnology Laboratory, Georgia Institute of Technology, USA (2009\u20132010). She is a member of the Commission of Medical Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
From 2016 to 2020, she held a contractual appointment as an external expert at the Institute of Bast Fiber Crops in China. Since 2025, she has held a contractual appointment as an external expert with the Green and Low-Carbon Production Technology Team at the Institute of Bast Fiber Crops, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. She was also a member of the European Commission\u2019s EIP-AGRI Focus Group on sustainable industrial crops in Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She was awarded a scholarship by the Onassis Foundation (1988\u20131990) and subsequently received two research grants from the Onassis Scholars\u2019 Association (2006\u20132008).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
