Zervakis <\/strong>(PhD)<strong> <\/strong>is Professor in Mycology, and Head at the Laboratory of General and Agricultural Microbiology, in the Department of Crop Science, Agricultural University of Athens, Greece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His current activities and research interests could be summarized as follows: ecology, diversity and molecular phylogeny of fungi with emphasis on Basidiomycota and larger Ascomycota (order Pezizales); mushroom breeding and cultivation, evaluation of nutritional\/dietetic\/functional properties of edible fungal biomass; biodegradation, bioconversion and valorization of agro-industrial residues\/by-products and synthetic polymers through the use of selected microorganisms (e.g., white-rot fungi).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Georgios I.
