The Department of Forestry and Natural Environment Management was established under Law 4589 (Government Gazette 13A/29-1-2019) and was incorporated into the School of Plant Sciences of the Agricultural University of Athens. The Department has been operating in privately owned facilities in Karpenisi since the academic year 2019–2020. It awards an Integrated Master’s Degree (Integrated Master), corresponding to Level 7 of the National and European Qualifications Framework.

The Department actively participates in European and national research programs and makes a significant contribution to forestry research in Greece. Furthermore, it develops collaborations with other Higher Education Institutions in Greece and abroad, as well as with organizations and businesses related to the Department’s field of study.
