4615. Wood Technology

Course Content

Description, properties, and production technology of wood and wood-based products, including raw materials, machinery, production stages, quality control, storage, and processing. Study of solid wood, sawn timber, veneers, plywood, glued laminated timber, particleboards, fiberboards, paper, and engineered wood products (OSB, LVL, PSL), their properties, uses, drying and preservation treatments, surface improvement processes, and comparative analysis of hygroscopic behavior and mechanical strength.

Learning Results

Upon successful completion of the course the student will be able to:
• Knows the processing methods and production stages of wood products.
• Uses processing methodologies and production stages for wood products
• Has the skills to respond to future research or professional activities

DEPARTMENT OF FORESTRY 

The Department of Forestry and Natural Environment Management joined the Faculty of Plant Sciences of the AUA. The Department operates from the academic year 2019-2020 and is based in Tthe city of Karpenisi. Housed in the building facilities of the Department of Forestry and Natural Environment Management of the former Technical Scool (TEI)  of Central Greece.
