4826. Standardization and Certification of Forest Products

Course Content

Principles and terminology of standardization, quality characteristics of wood and wood products, specifications and testing methods, quality assurance systems, certification bodies and standards (ISO 9000, ISO 14000, EMAS), ecolabels and CE marking, forest certification schemes.

Learning Results

Upon successful completion of the course the student will be able to:
• Acquire the necessary knowledge about the processes of elaboration, issuance and implementation of standards, systems for the certification of forest products and forest areas.
• Be aware of the significant benefits of standardization in controlling and improving the suitability of products, processes and services; and
• Has the skills to respond to future research or professional activities.

DEPARTMENT OF FORESTRY 

The Department of Forestry and Natural Environment Management joined the Faculty of Plant Sciences of the AUA. The Department operates from the academic year 2019-2020 and is based in Tthe city of Karpenisi. Housed in the building facilities of the Department of Forestry and Natural Environment Management of the former Technical Scool (TEI)  of Central Greece.
