4821. Ecophysiology of Forest Species

Course Content

Fundamental concepts of ecophysiology, adaptation and adaptive strategies, physiological mechanisms, and natural selection. Ecophysiology of forest trees, including water relations, productivity, photosynthesis, nitrogen metabolism, germination and senescence, responses to environmental stress, and tree performance under extreme conditions such as drought, flooding, salinity, and temperature extremes.

Learning Results

Upon successful completion of the course the student will be able to:
• has acquired scientific knowledge and critical thinking about the interactions between
plant functions and the environment (including climate change) at different levels of
organization (organs, whole plants, populations) and with different approaches (molecular
biology, classical experimental physiology, physiology, ecology),
• Participate in research on plant species' reactions to habitat change and climate change.
