4512. Forest Road Engineering

Course Content

Principles of forest road planning and design, road classification and geometry, horizontal and vertical alignment, curves and gradients, cross-sections, earthworks, cost estimation, and field layout. Spatial planning of forest roads, environmental impact assessment, regulatory framework, and the use of GIS, spatial data models, digitization, and thematic mapping in road design and environmental applications.

Learning Results

OBJECTIVES
To provide a geographically diverse source of expertise for forest road engineering, and
through research and extension to help develop solutions that satisfy operational demands
and that satisfy societal and environmental expectations.

DEPARTMENT OF FORESTRY 

The Department of Forestry and Natural Environment Management joined the Faculty of Plant Sciences of the AUA. The Department operates from the academic year 2019-2020 and is based in Tthe city of Karpenisi. Housed in the building facilities of the Department of Forestry and Natural Environment Management of the former Technical Scool (TEI)  of Central Greece.
