4614. Forest Entomology
Course Content
Basic concepts of entomology, insect morphology and taxonomy, insect ecology and population dynamics, interactions between insects and the environment, insect outbreaks, pest insects of coniferous and broadleaf trees, damage symptoms and control methods, insects of nurseries, soil and roots, predators, and insects affecting wood in use.
Learning Results
Upon successful completion of the course, students are expected to be able to identify the most important forest insects of Greece and propose measures for their management in forested areas.
The Department of Forestry and Natural Environment Management joined the Faculty of Plant Sciences of the AUA. The Department operates from the academic year 2019-2020 and is based in Tthe city of Karpenisi. Housed in the building facilities of the Department of Forestry and Natural Environment Management of the former Technical Scool (TEI) of Central Greece.
