4811. Forest Ecosystem Management
Course Content
Planning and management of terrestrial forest ecosystems, including timber-producing forests (high forests, coppice forests, and mixed systems). Spatial and temporal organization of forest resources, methods for estimating growing stock and allowable cut, and management of multi-purpose forests. Application of landscape ecology, operations research, remote sensing, and GIS in forest management, including recreational forests, resin-producing forests, protected and protective forests, and the preparation of forest management plans.
Learning Results
Upon completion of the course the student is able to:
to study/analyze problems of Forest Ecosystem Management and, in general, Natural Terrestrial Ecosystems management,
to combine data from multiple sources,
to make decisions on the selection of the most appropriate method of management of a Forest Ecosystem and
The Department of Forestry and Natural Environment Management joined the Faculty of Plant Sciences of the AUA. The Department operates from the academic year 2019-2020 and is based in Tthe city of Karpenisi. Housed in the building facilities of the Department of Forestry and Natural Environment Management of the former Technical Scool (TEI) of Central Greece.
