4313. Forest Botany (Trees and Shrubs)

Course Content

Morphological characteristics, biological requirements, and geographic distribution of forest trees and shrubs of Greece, as well as important exotic forest species. Species and subspecies identification using keys and stereomicroscopes, and field identification in natural environments.

Learning Results

Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to:

• identify the main forestry species of Greece,

• be able to identify forestry species using keys and a stereoscope and

• know basic characteristics of the most important forestry species of the Greek flora, with regard to their biological requirements, distribution, etc.

DEPARTMENT OF FORESTRY 

The Department of Forestry and Natural Environment Management joined the Faculty of Plant Sciences of the AUA. The Department operates from the academic year 2019-2020 and is based in Tthe city of Karpenisi. Housed in the building facilities of the Department of Forestry and Natural Environment Management of the former Technical Scool (TEI)  of Central Greece.
