4212. Forest Botany (Systematics)

Course Content

Principles of plant taxonomy and classification systems, plant characteristics and descriptions, floral diagrams and formulas, and diagnostic features of major plant families in Greek forest ecosystems. Practical identification at the family level using keys and stereomicroscopes.

Learning Results

Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to:

• understand the basic principles and methodologies of studying plants from a systematic point of view,

• understand the term plant species and taxonomic systems, and

• know basic features of the most important families of the Greek flora.

DEPARTMENT OF FORESTRY 

The Department of Forestry and Natural Environment Management joined the Faculty of Plant Sciences of the AUA. The Department operates from the academic year 2019-2020 and is based in Tthe city of Karpenisi. Housed in the building facilities of the Department of Forestry and Natural Environment Management of the former Technical Scool (TEI)  of Central Greece.
