4415. Forest Botany (Geobotany)

Course Content

Plant geography, endemic species, species distribution, history of forest vegetation, vegetation zones, principles of phytosociology, classification of forest vegetation and habitat types, and field sampling, analysis, and classification of vegetation units.

Learning Results

The aim of the course is for students to acquire theoretical and practical knowledge in order to:

• identify the vegetation zones and basic vegetation formations,

• conduct sampling, distinguish vegetation units, classify and identification of habitat types, and

• participate in vegetation and habitat type surveys, etc.

DEPARTMENT OF FORESTRY 

The Department of Forestry and Natural Environment Management joined the Faculty of Plant Sciences of the AUA. The Department operates from the academic year 2019-2020 and is based in Tthe city of Karpenisi. Housed in the building facilities of the Department of Forestry and Natural Environment Management of the former Technical Scool (TEI)  of Central Greece.
