ANNOUNCEMENT – CALL FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST
The Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development of the Agricultural University of Athens intends to fill the following PhD candidate positions without financial remuneration, with immediate start:
Candidates must:
a) Be graduates of Economics, Natural Sciences, or a related field with a first degree or a related Master's Degree (MD) with the TAO.
b) Hold a Master's Degree from a Greek university or a recognized equivalent from a foreign institution, or a single, uninterrupted degree (integrated master's degree) in the research and teaching subjects of the Department or those most closely related to them, which promote the academic interdisciplinary character of the Department.
c) Have a grade of at least "very good" in their Master's Degree.
d) Have certification of knowledge of the English language at least at the Lower level.
The application files will be reviewed by an Evaluation Committee (EC) for each subject area to ensure that the formal qualifications are complete, and candidates will be invited to an interview. The TAO Assembly, following a recommendation by the EA, will decide on the acceptance of applications after considering the following main criteria:
The call for expressions of interest will be posted on the website of the Agricultural University of Athens (www.aua.gr) and in the announcements section of the TAO website.
Interested candidates may submit their applications and supporting documents electronically from October 2, 2025, to November 14, 2025, to the Secretariat of the Department (saoa@aua.gr) (tel. 210 5294742).
Candidates must submit an online application, which must include, among other things:
a) the degree/postgraduate degree grade and type of degrees,
b) recognised English language proficiency certificates (e.g. State Language Proficiency Certificate, GCE, GCSE, Cambridge Proficiency, TOEFL),
c) the proposed language of the dissertation,
d) the proposed title (in Greek or English), and
e) the proposed supervisor of the doctoral dissertation.
Applications must be accompanied by the following supporting documents:
a) A brief draft of the doctoral thesis of up to two pages (written in Greek or English) relevant to the subject of the announcement.
b) A detailed curriculum vitae.
c) A copy of a degree or diploma from a Greek university or one recognized as equivalent from a foreign university and a detailed transcript of grades.
d) A copy of a postgraduate degree from a Greek university or a foreign university recognized as equivalent, and a detailed transcript of grades.
e) A certificate of proficiency in English.
f) Two (2) letters of recommendation from members of the teaching staff of Greek universities or professors from abroad, in a sealed envelope from the recommender or sent electronically to the email of the Department's secretariat,
g) A sworn statement in which the candidate declares that they have not been accepted to pursue a doctoral dissertation at another university in Greece or abroad.
