Academic Tutor

Academic Tutor supports the academic, personal and professional development of the students.

Academic Tutors help the students to make decisions in relation to their courses, curriculum and thesis. Also, they try to identify students’ strengths and weaknesses in relation to academic study skills and encouraging them to make plans and/or take up opportunities to develop these.

Additionally, Academic Tutors assist the students with their academic and professional development (e.g. Postgraduate studies, career support)

Postgraduate

MBA in Agribusiness Management
The increasing need for highly trained business executives has triggered the development of undergraduate and postgraduate educational programmes around the world, focusing on agro-food business management. The Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development of the Agricultural University of Athens, in collaboration with the Department of Food Science and Technology, has developed and is offering a high quality postgraduate educational programme in Agribusiness Management, the first of its kind in South East Europe. Part of the teaching staff of the Programme belongs to the collaborating Departments, but a good number comes from the Athens University of Economics & Business, Imperial College (London), University of Bath (England), Universite Paris Dauphine. The programme is supported by the EU and the Ministry of National Education of Greece.

Farm Business Management and Advisory Services for Rural Development
The main purpose of the program is the specialization of scientists, at postgraduate level who will promote and apply knowledge in economics and management of companies – livestock and aquaculture services (secondarily in companies – crop production services), as well as in the provision of relevant technical and economic advice and also in rural development.

Doctoral Studies

Doctoral Studies Program

The AOA department operates a Doctoral Studies program that is governed by Regulation 4286 / 27.9.2018. The Department announces the positions of the Doctoral Candidates based on the subject of the position to be filled up to three times a year. The minimum duration for obtaining a Doctoral Degree is 3 full calendar years, from the date of appointment of the three-member advisory committee while the maximum duration of doctoral studies is 5 full calendar years, from the date of appointment of the three-member advisory committee. So far, 29 doctorates have been announced by the Department while the current number of PhD Candidates is 19.

Post-Doctoral Studies

The AOA department has approved a Regulation for the Preparation of Postdoctoral Research, which aims to create high quality scientific research. The duration of the postdoctoral research may not be less than 1 full calendar year and more than 3 years from the date of the decision to accept the postdoctoral researcher by the General Assembly of the Department. The current number of postdoctoral fellowships is 3.

Erasmus +

Erasmus Program Actions

The Agricultural University of Athens (AUA) runs exchange programmes for students and staff for many years. The most well-know is Erasmus+/KA1Learning Mobility of Individuals.

The Department of Agricultural Economics and Development is very active in regards with the Erasmus+ and has concluded many inter-institutional agreements with Higher Education Institutions of Programme Countries.

These collaborations allow students’ exchanges for studies and staff exchanges for teaching. The list of partner Universities is available here.

In order to facilitate incoming students’ mobility, the faculty offers courses in English exclusively to Erasmus students. The course catalogue is regularly updated and can be accessed here.

Moreover, Erasmus+ Programme provisions students’ and staff exchanges for training. Students and staff of the Department of Agricultural Economics and Development make the most of these opportunities as well.
