The theoretical part of the course covers the following topics:
  1. Introduction - Understanding of business resources and management needs – Enterprise Resource Planning Systems (ERP) Evolution – Benefits and problems of using ERP systems
  2. Business Processes – ERP System selection criteria – ERP subsystems
  3. ERP Architecture
  4. ERP functionality – Business Processes support
  5. Human resources management module
  6. Financial management module
  7. Asset Management module
  8. Inventory and Warehouse Management module
  9. Sales and distribution module
  10. Production management module
  11. Customer Relationship Management module
  12. Supply Chain Management module
  13. Project management processes for implementing ERP


  14. The laboratory part of the course covers the following topics:
    • Use of an ERP system for the development of specific logistics scenarios

Learning results

The scope of the course is to help students to:
• understand issues related to the necessity, methods and tools of integrated business resource management, emphasizing on business processes
• understand resource management and workflow management issues throughout the supply chain (inside and outside a business) and the ways in which Enterprise Resource Planning Systems (ERPs) support supply chain operation
• understand the implementation of ERP systems, focusing on requirements analysis, architecture design, evaluation, selection and actions throughout its life cycle (implementation, parameterization, development, maintenance)
• be familiarized with the basic functions of an ERP system

Upon successful completion of the course the student will be able to:
• explain the technological infrastructure of Enterprise Resource Management Systems (ERPs)
• describe the operations of the basic subsystems (modules) of Enterprise Resource Management Systems (ERPs)
• use the basic functions of an Enterprise Resource Planning System (ERP)

The Department was created in 2019 (article 20, Law 4589/2019) and is an evolution of the Supply Systems Management Department (D.S.E.). Housed in a 770 sq.m. building. within a plot with a total area of 8,000 sq.m. in facilities with extensive research and teaching spaces.
