Dionisios Gasparatos is Professor of Soil Science in the Laboratory of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry at the Agricultural University of Athens, Greece. He received MSc in Applied Environmental Geology from The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, and PhD in Soil Science from Agricultural University of Athens. His teaching and research focuses on pedology, soil fertility and plant nutrition, soil mineralogy and chemistry with environmental applications. He is author of more than 65 papers and chapters published in high impact international journals and books, including Environmental Chemistry Letters, Science of Total Environment, Catena, Chemosphere, Journal of Hazardous Materials, Journal of Plant Nutrition and Soil Science with over 1300 citations, and is naturally a reviewer and editorial board member of several international journals as well as an editor of textbooks for graduate students. His current scientific interests are related to the role of redoximorphic features on the mobility and bioavailability of several nutrients and potentially toxic metals in soils. Included in 2023 Stanford University’s (Single Year) Top 2% Scientists List

Dr. Orestis Kairis received his BSc degree in agricultural sciences and agricultural engineering (2001), his MSc degree in sustainable soil management (2003), and his PhD degree in land degradation and desertification (2015) from the Department of Natural Resources Development and Agricultural Engineering of the Agricultural University of Athens (AUA).

His experience and expertise are in soil mapping and soil surveying, qualitative and semiquantitative soil suitability evaluation, soil erosion metrics and modelling, and in land degradation and desertification assessment. He has participated as an agricultural engineer or Dr. soil scientist-researcher in over 30 EU-funded or financially supported by the Greek State research projects or studies.

He has authored/co-authored 18 papers in peer-reviewed journals (Scopus: h index 11, citations 620), a book chapter of an international publishing house and a treatise published by the Academy of Athens. He served as a member of the Greek National Committee for Combating Desertification which was formed in June 2021. Since June 2022, he has been elected Assistant Professor, of the Department of Natural Resources and Agricultural Management, in the field of Soil Mapping and Evaluation at the AUA.

Dr. Konstantinos X. Soulis, Assistant Prof., Geoinformatics and Spatial Analysis in Agriculture and Environment, Agricultural University of Athens, Department of Natural Resources Management and Agricultural Engineering, Lab. of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry.  His main research and teaching subjects are: Geographical Information System (GIS), Geospatial Analysis, Hydrology, Environmental Hydrology, Hydrological Modeling, Hydrometry, Agricultural Water Management, Irrigations, WRM, and Geographical Information System (GIS) applications development in the fields of WRM, Hydrology and Pedology.  From 2007 up to now, he is the author of 49 peer-reviewed articles (21 as the first author and 3 as the sole author) in leading peer reviewed international journals and many other publications. He has one Patent granted and he served as a reviewer in 64 international journals.

Dr. Soulis serves as a co-editor at the Hydrological Sciences Journal, which is one of the leading and most historical peer reviewed journals in hydrology. In 2020 he received the best associate editor award in Hydrological Sciences Journal for his outstanding overall contribution. He is also a member of the editorial board of Remote Sensing journal and Journal of Mountain Science. In 2021 and 2022 he was listed among the top 2% of scientists in the world for 2020 and 2021 correspondingly. Finally, he has worked as evaluator of National and European Research Projects Proposals and European Research Projects implementation.
