Brief Curriculum Vitae

Associate Professor (2022 - present) of the School of Environment and Agricultural Engineering, Natural Resources Development and Agricultural Engineering, Agricultural University of Athens. He is Agricultural Engineer with a Master Degree in "Mathematical Modeling in Modern Technologies and Economics" from the School of Applied Mathematics and Natural Sciences of National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and PhD in Computational Fluid Mechanics in Porous Media (Newcastle upon Tyne, UK) as a Scholar of the State Scholarships Foundation (1997-2000). His research interests are focused on Postharvest Technologies (handling, storage and processing of fresh agricultural products) and in development, application and dynamic computer-based visualization of mathematical models (Digital Twins) for the study of physical and mechanical processes (refrigeration, freezing and drying), as well thermo-physical and mechanical properties of agricultural products. Since 2022 is the Director of the Division of Farm Structures & Farm Machine Systems and teaches in two MSc programs, at the Department of Crop Science, Title: "Cutting Edge Fields and Innovative Applications in the Production and Preservation of Horticultural and Floral Crops" and at the Department of Natural Resources Development and Agricultural Engineering (English Course), Title: "Digital Technologies and Smart Infrastructure in Agriculture". Since 2005 has taught 11 undergraduate (C) and five (E) courses. Dr. Xanthopoulos has more than 45 publications in peer-reviewed journals, 1 Patent, 1202 citations, h-index 17 (Google Scholar March 2025) and more than 75 presentations in peer-reviewed conferences (National and International). He has participated in four National and European Scientific Programs.
